To me it doesn't sound that much louder.and agree would not do permanent damage I am new to the forum and I would like to know what would happen if i remove the baffles from the stock exhaust of a vstar classic 650.
Keep doing this all the way around and it should fall out.
Some aftermarket tuned exhaust systems have some pretty cool sounds and do help out in performance.

I hear what your saying about the screwdriver, but the is not much room to get it in there and pry. You have to take a long and thick screwdriver and hit it with a hammer on the outside end of the baffle. Generally speaking you will get almost zero performance gain from slip on mufflers. My wife said the same thing but she likes the new sound now. There is a lip on the other side of the baffle and you have to make the hole big enough for it to slip through.
How to...before and after... ah I wouldn't do a permanent scar to my pipes. Insert the hole saw into the end cone on the exhaust, which is the exhaust tip, and drill out … The only other thing I would recommend would be to drill out the air box, or replace the stock with a high flow after market air box.
